Well, MacGonigal has been home from hospital now for three days. Her ankle is getting better but she still has a way to go - another three weeks of antibiotics and exercising to build her strength up.
She visited her pediatrician this morning and he was very pleased with her progress. He was especially pleased to hear that she'd made it up and down a flight of stairs without help and that she was now making a real effort to move her ankle. As he told her, most of the pain is now just due to stiffness and the more you exercise, the sooner that things will improve. He also reminded her that if she doesn't exercise enough then it could take months rather than weeks for her leg to get better.
MacGonigal has to go back for another check up in a fortnight. And, if things keep improving, she should be completely out of the woods by then.
